What you are buying
Whet is a web research workbench you sign up for in your browser. Free is free forever for personal use. Paid tiers add capacity, features and the Desktop add-on:
- Free ($0 forever). 2 active sources, 100 LLM analyses per month, daily ingestion schedule, markdown export, personal-use license.
- Basic ($9/mo). 5 active sources, 1,000 LLM analyses per month, email alerts on coincidence matches, commercial-use license, priority signal scoring and all export formats.
- Pro ($29/mo). 15 active sources on web with 5,000 LLM analyses per month, plus the Desktop add-on (macOS, Windows, Linux) where BYOK (your own LLM key) or BYOA (delegate to a local agent CLI) lifts every cap. Native Notion, Linear and Cal exports. Priority support.
- Team. Multi-seat plans with shared workspaces, role-based access, audit logging and consolidated billing. Quoted on the discovery call. Opens formally once Pro has real traction; until then, a Team trial is set up by hand.
Who operates what
Web tiers (Free, Basic, Pro web). Whet operates the workbench, the ingestion adapters and the managed LLM analysis. Your team brings the source list and the prompts; Whet brings the runtime and absorbs the LLM cost (Gemini Flash-Lite on Free and Basic, Flash on Pro web).
Desktop add-on (Pro). Your team operates the local binary on machines under your control. With BYOK or BYOA, the LLM call goes from your machine to the provider you chose; Whet is not in the request path.
The terms of service of third-party platforms your sources ingest from (Reddit, YouTube, Hacker News, the public web URLs you wire) apply to your use of those services. The legal positioning page goes deeper.
Fees and refunds
Free is free forever for personal use. Basic and Pro are monthly subscriptions you can cancel at any time. The 7-day free trial on Basic and Pro does not require a card; you only enter billing details if you continue past the trial.
Annual billing is available at two months free. Refunds are pro-rated for unused time on annual subscriptions. If a managed service feature fails materially for reasons under our control and we cannot restore service within seven days, you are refunded for the affected period.
Team plans are scoped on the discovery call and signed as a statement of work. Termination and refund clauses live in that document.
Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- The account you sign up with and the security of its credentials.
- The source list you wire, the prompts you configure, and any OAuth tokens or API keys you bring on the Desktop add-on.
- Decisions to publish content, regardless of which surface (workbench, CLI or MCP) initiated the action. Whet does not auto-publish in the background.
- The lawfulness of the content ingested and produced by your pipelines under the laws applicable to your jurisdiction and audience.
- Holding a Basic or higher subscription if you use Whet for commercial work. Free is licensed for personal use only.
We are responsible for:
- Operating the web app and the managed ingestion adapters with reasonable uptime, signed deliveries on webhooks, and the encryption boundaries described in the privacy page.
- Delivering a working Desktop binary for the Pro tier, signed for the major platforms (macOS notarised, Windows Authenticode, Linux cosign).
- Honouring the terms of your subscription, including reasonable response times for support.
- Shipping security-relevant updates within seven days of confirmed report and disclosing material breaking changes before they reach you.
Indemnification
Because your team chooses the sources, the prompts and the published artifacts, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from third-party claims arising out of those choices, including but not limited to claims by platform vendors whose terms your wiring may touch, copyright holders of content ingested or produced through your pipelines, and end users of any content you publish.
We carry our own responsibility for the parts we control: gross negligence or wilful misconduct in the software we ship and the cloud services we operate.
Confidentiality
Any non-public information you share with us (support threads, log excerpts, screenshots) is held in confidence. We do not reuse customer-specific prompts, source lists, style profiles or operational metrics in marketing or in other engagements without explicit written permission.
Termination
Either side can end the subscription at any time. After cancellation, your account drops back to the Free tier shape; your stored sessions and drafts remain available for export for at least sixty days. Refunds for pre-paid annual time are pro-rated.
We can suspend paid features on reasonable grounds (non-payment, abusive usage, repeated abuse complaints from third-party platforms tied to your account). We notify you before suspension where feasible.
Governing law
The subscription is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction stated on your subscription agreement. If no jurisdiction is stated, the laws of Argentina (where the studio is registered) apply.
Changes
These terms cover the public framework. The specific subscription agreement and, for Team, the signed statement of work, take precedence over anything written here. Updates to this page apply to new subscriptions; existing customers keep the terms they signed.
